Coming Attractions in Local Rock: April 2013

April 2, 2013 Leave a Comment

It is April in New England and for local music that means one thing, it’s time to RUMBLE!

By Kathleen Burke

The 34th Rock and Roll Rumble returns to TT The Bear’s Place in Cambridge this month, and being equal parts festival and competition, this battle of the bands will have the city buzzing all month long.

For nine nights in April, 24 bands from the Boston area compete for the top spot of Rumble Champion. If you are unfamiliar with the way the Rumble works, let me break it down for you. Each night, four bands perform and are judged on a variety of factors by local music professionals. Each night a winner is chosen to move on to the next round. The semifinals will be held on Thursday 4/18 and Friday 4/19, and winners from those nights face off for the top spot on Friday April 26th.

The fabulous and ever supportive Anngelle Wood, host of local music radio show Boston Emissions on 100.7 WZLX has organized the event for the past three years. She is a fervent advocate for local musicians, and works tirelessly to organize and execute the Rock and Roll Rumble festival each year.

Doors are at 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted, and tickets can be purchased through the TT The Bear’s website. All shows in the Rumble are 18+
