Juri-Henley Cohn, the star of the BSC production of “Bashir Lazhar”

Early birds in the Berkshires will be served what looks like a promising treat when Bashir Lazhar by Evelyn de la Cheneliere receives its American premiere courtesy of the Barrington Stage Company. Centering on the experiences of a French-Algerian refugee teacher, the play inspired the Oscar-nominated, Canadian film Monsieur Lazhar. The production is directed by Shakina Nayfack. Performances begin on May 22nd (and run through June 22) at St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street in Pittsfield, MA.
