Weekly Feature: Poetry at The Arts Fuse

Welcome to “Poetry at The Arts Fuse.” A new poem every Thursday

GIRL (ילדה)

When she was two I taught
my daughter Hebrew words:

“geshem” she’d say, pointing
a tiny finger toward the sky.

“Ani Isey” she’d say pointing
at her heart. “Aht Isey” I’d say

Pointing at her lev. I never thought
to teach her the word for murder.

Today she is seventeen & bombs
fall like geshem from the sky.

Anthony Robinson lives in the woods in Oregon with a recalcitrant cat. His work has been in The Iowa Review, The Brooklyn Rail, and the failing New York Times.

Note: Hey poets! We seek submissions of excellent poetry from across the length and breadth of contemporary poetics. See submission guidelines here. The arbiter of the feature is the magazine’s poetry editor, John Mulrooney.
