Short Fuse podcast host Deanna Costa in action.

No matter where our lives were at just nine months ago, most of us are longing for those pre-pandemic days. Jump into this week’s jukebox of an episode for a trip back in time.

This week, host Deanna Costa profiles seven famous singers who all have something to do with January 10 and 24. Five of them share the palindrome birthday with our host, who happened to celebrate her 24th with a lovely party just in time before the virus hit. The other two featured artists hit their stride and released masterpiece albums at the ripe old age of 24. Having been inspired by the aforementioned festivities, this episode was also recorded before the advent of the pandemic. After almost six months of living in varying states of quarantine, now feels like a good time to release a deep dive into nostalgic hits from the latter half of the 20th century. There are surprises in store! See below for links to the music mentioned in today’s episode:

Maggie May by Rod Stewart

You Don’t Mess Around With Jim by Jim Croce

Business Time by Flight of the Conchords

Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar

What a Difference a Day Makes by Frank Sinatra Jr.

Thriller (Thriller, 1982) by Michael Jackson

Subterranean Homesick Blues (Bringing It All Back Home, 1965) by Bob Dylan

Deanna Costa is a recent graduate of Boston University’s College of Communication, where she earned a B.S. in Journalism with a focus on Magazine Design. During her time at BU, she covered local concerts for on-campus publications in multiple formats. Outside of writing, she routinely interviewed artists and reviewed albums live on her weekly radio show, DJ-ed on campus events, and held the Studio Productions Director position in 2017. Currently, she is a full-time administrative assistant, a freelance music journalist, and host of the Arts Fuse Podcast: The Short Fuse.
