Fruitlands: or, to Mother a Truth
 
 
I did not give birth. I did not want to
give death more material.
I am of nothing the mother, have cradled
many things and none’s become
a child, or had lips and a heart, or a name
pain could take, but I have
 
 
 
made room    for a new nature,     must it
really be     a human     nature?
