September brings a lot of good shows to Boston. Watch out in particular for the Flying Lotus show if you’re into electronic/ beats music and the Olivia Tremor Control reunion show.

Flying Lotus, Sonnymoon, Time Wharp. At Royale, Boston, MA, September 9, 6 p.m., 18+, $20.

Flying Lotus makes intricate, electronic music with jazz and hip-hop influences. He will probably play a DJ set, mixing his own music with live re-works of tracks by other artists. Hopefully, we will get to hear teases of his next album coming out on Warp. The Royale’s sound system should cater to his bass-heavy beats.

Barn Owl, High Aura’d, Stillbirth, Lussuria. At O’Brien’s Pub, Alliston, MA, September 16, 9 p.m., 21+.

San Francisco-based Barn Owl plays heavy, psychedelic drone music.

The Olivia Tremor Control, Music Tapes. At Brighton Music Hall, September 19, 9 p.m., 18+, $15.

The Olivia Tremor Control plays catchy, psych pop music. They have, for the most part, been on hiatus since 2000, so this is a reunion tour of sorts.

Wilco, Nick Lowe. At Wang Theatre, Boston, MA, September 20, 8 p.m., $35.

Wilco have received much critical acclaim for their blend of alternative rock. They will be playing the Wang Theatre a week prior to the release of their album, The Whole Love. Veteran English rocker Nick Lowe provides support.

Cave. In Allston,MA, September 23.

Cave plays psychedelic rock with kraut rock influences. Details on this show are currently vague, but it will probably take place in a house or warehouse in Allston.

Black Moth Super Rainbow, Lichens, The Marshmallow Ghosts. At Brighton Music Hall, September 24, 9 p.m., 18+, $15.

Black Moth Super Rainbow makes psychedelic music with folk and electronic influences.

Deerhoof, Fat Worm of Error, The Toughcats. At the Middle East Downstairs, Cambridge, MA, September 29, 8 p.m., $15.

Deerhoof plays catchy, progressive rock music. Their latest album, Deerhoof vs. Evil, doesn’t match the quality of its predecessors, but this band excels in a live setting.

Swans, Sir Richard Bishop. At Royale, Boston, MA, September 29, 7 p.m., 18+, $25.

Swans make dark, heavy rock music with industrial, post-punk and noise influences. Sir Richard Bishop of Sun City Girls opens.
