The Whale
Darren Aronofksy’s new film might not be everyone’s cup of ambergris.
The Whale is a bracing two hour battle against destiny.
Matthew Woods and his actors do not draw on a faux-naturalist performance style, which is so (unfortunately) fashionable in mainstream theater.
Unlike much of what comes through the new play development pipeline, “The Whale” proffers a coherent narrative structure — the result is a well-crafted, somewhat edgy, domestic tragedy.
