New York City Ballerina Wendy Whelan, still healing from last summer’s hip surgery, has postponed her spring tour of Restless Creature where she performs duets with each of four male choreographers – Kyle Abraham, Joshua Beamish, Brian Brooks and Alejandro Cerrudo — who created works especially for the project. This means that she will not be appearing under the auspices of the Celebrity Series as planned.

Ironically, today’s announcement comes days after a Facebook posting that one of those dance-makers, MacArthur winner Kyle Abraham, whose Abraham.In.Motion troupe has appeared in Boston under the auspices of World Music/CRASHarts, spent some of his recent tour to Lyon, France, in a wheelchair watching the company from the audience side. (By the time the troupe hit Toronto he was apparently in good form.)

For Abraham, injury was frustrating but perhaps not as frustrating as losing his phone, and then finding it with the help of iCloud. If only there was an app for instantly successful physical therapy for hard-working dance professionals.
